Generation Culture

Summary

The review of the various generations existing since the Second World War has revealed that the culture of each generation shapes the next and so on. For instance, since the baby boomers focused on their work, they gave more responsibilities to their children resulting in generation X being composed of individuals who do not like to be managed. This generation later gave their children freedom due to which the current generation Y individuals seek jobs that give them the flexibility to accomplish their tasks and at the same time remain social.

The learning's from this paper would help me to better interact with people from various cultures. Knowing their behavior and culture, it would be easier to communicate with them by using the appropriate communication method.

Initially, I tough that generation X individuals sough complete freedom and demanded complete control of certain situations. I had a stereotype that they did not wish to work but wished to earn by putting in the least efforts. However, this view of mine was wrong as this generation is known for their hard work and dedication. Although the dedication is less compared to baby boomers, they continued what they learnt from the boomers.

The way I interact with the generation X will now be different because of the fact that I know much more about their behavior and nature. Similarly, the views I had about this generation were wrong as my views resemble the behavior of generation Y. Interacting with generation X is one of the easiest since they have a moderate way of working that has some aspects of baby boomers and some aspects of generation Y Now that I know the way to interact with each generation, I would find ease in interacting with them.

Generation Culture

Introduction

Since the Second World War, the world has seen three generations of individuals. Each generation is significantly different from each other due to the characteristics of the previous generations. These generations are named baby boomers, generation X, and generation Y. a study of the three generation reveals that there is a relationship between the three of them and certain features are visible in all three generations. The mode of interaction with each generation is also significantly different. When comparing the first of these three generations to the last, significant differences can be observed due to which communication is affected. This paper sets to identify the relationship between the three generation and how interaction should be carried out (Fingerman, 2012).

Baby Boomers

People born between 1946 and 1964 are considered the baby boomer generation. This generation is characterized by the fact that the Second World War led to a decline in the working population. This decline meant that workers were required in large numbers throughout the next few decades in order to build back economies damaged by the war (Tang, 2012).
