Genesis 40: 1-23

Introduction

Joseph is considered to be the dreamer, a man who saw the future through dreams, and although things coming into your life did not seem as good as your dreams, never stopped dreaming and never stopped trusting in Him who gave their dreams, and dreams eventually came true. Through the Bible, especially the Old Testament, there are countless stories of men who were shaping the history of the people of Israel. The core focus of this paper is to throw light upon the dream of Joseph presented in Genesis 40: 1-23. We can fluently read each of these stories and see them as interesting stories, or we can focus a little more on them and find great truths and principles that can apply to our lives. But those stories are shadows of what would one day come, it's like watching the same movie but with different characters in different places, it is called “types”.

The story of Joseph teaches us how God is able to redeem man from, and in spite of their sins. Joseph's brothers sold him into slavery, and God uses this situation of sin, to save his people from starvation. Thanks to Joseph, who does not become spiteful, but discovers his plan as an example to interpret dreams. It is demonstrated here that God cares for his people and is preparing for the arrival of His son. God uses ways that are unknown to man, and uses the ways that men despise. God accompanies Joseph in his suffering on several occasions. Joseph had been falsely accused by Potiphar's wife and imprisoned in jail by Pharaoh (Hilbert, 2011). But, not blamed God for their problems. He had confidence in God and a personal relationship with Him, God showed him mercy and gave him favor in the eyes of the keeper of the prison. Following this, the boss of the prison handed in Joseph's care all the prisoners. When the chief butler came to be imprisoned and told his dream, Joseph said: “Do not belong to God the interpretations?” Joseph was not a soothsayer, but he knew God was with him and that He would give the interpretation. Joseph gave the butler the interpretation that was given to him by God. In three days, the butler was restored to his position as cupbearer as Joseph had said. Outside the prison, the cupbearer forgot Joseph and made ??no mention of it to Pharaoh. But God was always with him, and in all that he did, God prospered him (Rachaman, 2002). It is very significant in Genesis 40: 1-23 it is a clear example that Joseph was a great interpreter of dreams and provided clear interpretations to the people for their dreams.
