Introduction

The word genre belong to the French language originally. This word is mostly utilized in speechmaking, literature theory, media theory, and now it is commonly used in languages, which mainly indicates a distinguished sort of text. Genre is categorised in poetry, prose and drama in the field of literature and these categories are further divided into more divisions for instance tragedy, and comedy under drama. It can be further understood from an example of Shakespeare drama like that of Hamlet that covers various classifications of the genres such as tragedy, comedy, history, idyllic, etc. Similarly some common and universal genres and styles were showed in the Anatomy of criticism, which were used as a key to managing and organizing the whole literature body. As the world has modernized, genres have taken modern forms in the media and literature. These could be seen in form of thrillers, horror, western etc. similarly television shows can be categorised in genres like game show, sitcom, reality shows, opera etc. Film theorists have formed the types and categories of genres depending on the story such as war based films, some films lie under genres of comedy or melodrama, which are purely derived from literature, some films are based on musical genre. Some films are focused upon artistic genres such as art movies, and some are based on racism or identities such as black cinema etc. (Chandler, D., 2000, pp.1-15).

Discussion

In this paper, we would discuss the dark romance genre of one of the super hit in Hollywood Twilight Saga. The dark romance in the film has been associated to the mythical, magical characters like wear wolfs, and vampires and fallen angels has been the best part of the movie. The story's main theme or romantic genre that a human had with the vampire has been the agenda of attraction to the viewers. However the film has covered other competent genres as well such as romance, gothic, fantasy, and these genres have been an easy means for attracting maximum of young adult audience. The film has successfully used the elements of death and sexuality to gain the attention and retain the audience as deathless creatures i.e. vampires with extremely good looks and immoral sexuality has successfully presented a lifestyle that is unattainable, and unbelievable and only leave a desire (La Ferla, 2009).

Film industry and novels have shown the image of a vampire as a horrible blood sucking creature and with this means they used o induce the genre of horror in their works but the recent changes in the Hollywood as per the audience demand and wants have reshaped the character and image of a vampire from blood sucking creature to a mysterious, sexually immortal and extremely beautiful creature with whom one can fall in secret love and rest in peace in his or her fantasy world that may never exist in real life.
