Getting Young Men to Eat More Fruit and Vegetables: A Qualitative Investigation

Introduction

This paper aims to discuss the critical analysis of getting young men to consume healthy diet [2]. Before the discussion, it's prudent to describe what the qualitative investigation in this paper entails. Qualitative research is defined [4], as being capable to provide variety of responses extracted from a sample group. Also, related to our subject, qualitative research helps to produce new and relevant insights of the study under research [3]. Conversely, sole quantitative research would not produce the same generalizations and trends that a qualitative research will; it is because of this that the qualitative research is more popular in this field [4]. There are many methods of qualitative research that can be undertaken [4]; some of these methods include descriptive studies, conceptual studies and simple studies [3]. Additional methods of qualitative study that have more statistical research involved [4] [5], includes sampling methods such as purposive sampling, multiple coding, grounded theory and triangulation. However, qualitative research cannot be limited to use of these methods only [5], many researchers use a combination of different methods and tools to gather significant research results.

Discussion

The methodology adopted in our chosen case [2] is focus group approach which was divided into seven groups according to age of the sample of between 18-44 year old men. The reasons for choosing this segment of the population were due to the high number of health risks that of colon cancer found in men of this age group. These are the individuals who work or study and face high stress and lengthy work hours, which lead them to consume unhealthy food.
