Goal Setting and Reality

Introduction

Internships, in my opinion, are a very important phase in any individuals' career and life. This is simply because these internships offer an individual the opportunity to have an idea of how things actually work as opposed to what he has learnt in classes and theory. Internships also offer individuals an idea of the competition, direction and progress of the respective field they are perusing. Moreover, they also give an individual an idea of the general principles of working in an office and Organization. Most importantly, the internships offer the perfect opportunity to set and achieve various academic, professional and even personnel goals. However, I believe setting goals and benchmarks for oneself for an internship project and actually achieving them are two very different things. Nonetheless, goal setting and assessment are two inevitable practices. My internship at Ruiyi Camera in China last summer also had me undergo through a similar experience. Although, in a general context, this experience was very helpful in many ways. However, recognizing the importance for this opportunity, I set some goals for myself to ensure that this internship turns out to be a very useful one. In addition, I even brainstormed of how I will seek to achieve these aims.

Hence, I would voluntarily give my consent to be the group leader of a group of individuals in different academic projects or co-curricular tasks.

Therefore, I also wanted to find if I was able to show and prove my leadership skills during my internship, which will obviously be more serious and intense than leading any other activity in the past. Thus, I set a goal that I would volunteer to be the leader of the group of internees in the company. This would obviously make my resume more credible and would have added an important experience in my cover letter. However, more than any other thing, I wanted to prove myself that I will be able to lead as an efficient and dynamic leader. Moreover, another important reason behind volunteering for the leader position is to further improve my skills.

In short, I offered my name and services for being the group leader and was elected to be ...
