"Gretel in Darkness" and "A Fantasy”

While comparing the two poems, "Gretel in Darkness" by Louise Gluck and "Hansel and Gretel" by Anne Sexton with the original Brothers Grimm tale "Hansel and Gretel", different perspectives, point of views and messages are shown.

In "Gretel in Darkness" Gretel is reciting the poem. It is written in the first person. In this poem Gretel is overcome with certain darkness in her life.Something is haunting her from the past. Gretel describes an experience that she and her brother have shared together.

Unfortunate events in life cause a variety of unpleasant sensations, but the worst ever disaster. Louise Gluck "Gretel in Darkness describes the suffering that my sister feels after her brother was shockingly bruised, and Edgar Allen Poe's" spirits of the dead "shows the circumstances of the cemetery with evil spirits surrounding it. Both writers convey in his poems that depressing fact eventually lead to suffering, which ultimately causes all the good fortune to be reduced. Gluck explains the suffering that a certain character is going through after a family member killed, and the other for transfers of depression that is going through a cemetery, like all spirits chase him.

Many people in the world miserable for a few things, but none are likely to feel more depressed than Gretel. "Gretel in Darkness" tells the story of how my sister is dealing with the murder of his brother from an evil witch. At the beginning of the poem, the reader can already say that the poem is extremely depressing, as the author writes, "All who would see us dead are dead."

Year shadow is not science fiction novel. Neither is a fantasy novel. What is it? Well, if this question means "what category it comes in?” I say: you got me. I do not know. If the question is intended for more general, as in "What's that?" Or "make it fly?" "That is my answer unequivocally" yes. "

This novel, in which it lays its elusive head, reminds me of baseball announcers say some have only a few major league pitchers. When a guy throws 100 miles per hour, but he seems to have a soft throwing raw eggs into a bucket of cotton candy with all the care of a sleeping man fishing without a rod, it is easy to throw gas. Jeffrey Ford throws a real gas easily with this little semi-autobiographical gem. The book pulls you, keeps pulling you, pulling at you, in fact, but you never feel anything except a small trace of the tug. So he and his familiar world - the southern shore of western Suffolk County (NY) in the late sixties (thanks for the link Munson rookie, JF) - and so skilled he is at drawing you into it, that you barely notice the eerie, dark water occurs under your mental door.

How can I book you in without giving away the plot, and how can I pay tribute? Only a careful reading will encourage those interested and brave enough, but do not expect Tolkien ...
