Introduction

Effective leadership style is required for creating work motivation in the employees or in the team members. It is important to create motivation in the employees, as overall organizational performance heavily depends on this factor. Motivating employees for work, in order to achieve the organizational goals has become immensely crucial in today's world of networked economy, recession and increasing competition. Motivation, in this perspective, can simply be defined as the psychological process that provides the employees' behaviors with the purpose and direction (Lindner, 1998). Motivation is one of the key factors which affect the behavior of the employees, and hence the organizational success.

In the simplest of term, leadership can be defined as the art of leading people. In a more elaborative term, it can be defined as a process of influencing someone socially, enlisting support, and aid for the accomplishment of a task. Leadership can be regarded as the guiding path, which aligns several groups of people into a direction from where they can achieve their objectives. Around us, there are people who are illustrious from all others, not by usual traits or knowledge but for their capability to motivate others to dream and make their dreams come true. People with such traits are able to generate passion and energy into everything they do and transmit it to the people around them. There is a huge difference between being a leader and being a boss, which is limited to meet senior managers and find that the people around them do what is required(Martineau & Hannum, 2004, pp. 48-50).

The effectiveness of the leadership depends upon many factors in the organization. Firstly it all depends upon the individual who is charged to the leadership and other than this it involves the organizational culture, the visions and the missions of the organization, the motivational levels of the employees and the goals and targets of the members of the groups. For the performance of effective leadership, the leader must have to possess certain skills and qualities to effectively handle the matters under leadership. To be an effective leader, a leader must possess the ability to inspire others. It is the common skill among the effective leaders. The other required skills for effective leadership involves, creative thinking, ability to decision making, establishing the direction, developing the vision for the future, developing strategies to attain the established vision and goal, aligning the people in the team with their specific targets and goals and producing the positive change in the organization (Buchanan and Huczynski, ...
