The herbal supplements are a variety of nutritional supplements that contain herbs. In this paper, we will examine herbal supplement and research its benefits, possible side effects, restrictions, and documented toxic effects when taken with other medications.

Dietary supplements, derived from plants, usually contain more than one type of plant. The purpose of a dietary supplement is to increase the benefits people get from normal diet and eliminate the negative effects. The uses of natural remedies are becoming increasingly common in US. More and more people are interested for a more natural approach to their health. However, due to the lack of clarity of the legislation on the subject, there is much confusion about natural products, especially with regard to supplements, herbs, drugs. Supplements are food for inclusion in the common diet. These are concentrated sources of nutrients, such as vitamins and minerals, or other substances with a nutritional or physiological effect, these includes amino acids, essential fatty acids , fibers and extracts of vegetable origin, taken in form of capsules, pastilles, tablets, pills, chewing gum, liquid powders in sachets and the like.

Dietary supplements complement the normal diet. They are, in fact, a concentrated source of nutrients. They consist or contain one or more nutrients. They may also contain plant substances, such as herbs, or non-herbal substances, such as propolis, royal jelly and bee pollen.

Supplements are not drugs. I'm not even diet products. They serve to promote the well-being of the organism (McKenna, 2002).
