Introduction

Martin Luther King and Malcolm X are among the most influential personalities for the civil rights of blacks and oppressed. These two have a great contribution in dealing with the philosophy of nonviolence. The discussion is about their voyage and life span with efforts to serve the blacks and deal with the violence they faced.

Discussion

Martin Luther King was born on 15th January, 1929. He was a powerful spokesman in presenting his point of view and among the most influential American leaders. The practice adopted by King transformed America's understanding of liberation actions all around the globe. Martin Luther King spent his time in jail and participated in various long marches. Once, he was also gunned down in blood, and got his house burned into ashes. He was completely against violence and discrimination against the blacks. As per Martin Luther King, the most effective strategy to bring social change in the country was nonviolence. He guided and communicated to the black and other demoralized people to follow the principle of nonviolence, and struggle for justice. Violence would create more differences among communities, rather than solving those conflicts. The work of Martin Luther King was influential by the rebellions, especially the Black Power which had a great role in the civil right revolution. The problems like scarcity, unemployment, educational differences and some others were the key issues for the Blacks that affected masses. Martin Luther King introduced a revolution in America because of the differences (Glasgow, 1993). His dreams sound impossible for the people at that time, but his efforts made it possible for the achievement of his goals. His core focus was to remove the differences between the Black and Whites. He never wanted to create superiority for the Blacks, but to bring equality for every human.

Martin Luther King's ideas provided the people with political and religious perspectives, and supported them to establish a nonviolent militant. The purpose of this force was to bring a social change and help the black people to fight back for justice. Though, this was a gradual process. Martin Luther King's started his voyage from Georgia. In his initial life span, he suffered racial separation which created a negative impact in his mind and heart, against the whites. At a point in his life, he was determined to hate the white people. During his education, Martin Luther King studied a lot of philosophies which helped him in structuring a proper strategy to effectively deal with this matter of discrimination. Martin Luther King was never devoted to nonviolence, until the bus incident of Rosa Parks in which she refused to give her seat to a white woman. He suffered harassment, threats and various tortures, but still refused to defend himself by any arms. He had a belief that violence creates destruction and give rise to elements like hatred, murder, evil, and violence. According to him, violence should be dealt with nonviolence, rather than responding in the same violent manner.
