How did slavery impact America, the economy and quality of life in the 1700 and 1800's?

Introduction

Slavery began in America in 1619 when the African slaves arrived in Virginia. These slaves were responsible for helping in the production of important crops. This concept expanded and by the 17th and the 18th centuries, slavery was common throughout America. These slaves laid the foundations of economic and quality growth for America. In 1793, a cotton gin was invented which made slavery central for economic growth for America. However, with the abolition movement a civil war erupted in 1861 for removing slavery and its concept and led to the freedom of 4 million slaves. The following paper discusses how slavery is central for economic growth and improving quality of life in America.

Discussion

Slavery was the reason because of which America was transformed into power, in economic and quality life aspects. Women, men and children have been working for their masters for centuries and have been making millions of dollars for them. This has continued to the present time also. However, with time many tried to provoke a movement in order to remove slavery and its pillars, but this was not possible at first as slavery was the foundation on which the success of America stood.

At that time, cotton crops flourished and millions were earned through its harvest. This was wholly the responsibility of the black Americans to look after the crops. The wealth was sustained through brutal behaviors over the slaves by the rich, when the slaves were bought, sold and beaten. On the other hand, these slaves were usually illiterate as it was considered as a crime to teach the poor how to read and write.
