Abstract

The research is aimed at understanding how effective is counselling as an approach to reducing symptoms of postnatal depression in new mothers in South-East London? Postnatal depression (also known as postpartum depression) is a form of depression that can affect women and, less frequently, men after the birth of a child. In general, manifested by feelings of sadness and tearfulness, but may also show symptoms of depression. The Spanish Society of General Medicine (SEMG) defined it as a temporary condition that occurs between two and four days after birth and disappears spontaneously and without squeal, over a period of two weeks.
