Introduction

Considerable research has been carried out in order to examine different dynamics of domestic violence and how they are affecting children. Furthermore, the research paper will attempt to recommend remedies of how to stop domestic violence and child abuse? It has been documented that domestic violence and child abuse in developed world is on the rise and consequently affecting and infact altering the social norms of the society. Reports confirmed that around 3.5 million children in American became victim of the child abuse and most of them die or commit suicide in result of it (Ferraro, 2006). One of the leading cause of the child abuse in today's world is the domestic violence.

A violent event is labeled as domestic violence, when a person tries to control or exert power over his partner in an intimate relationship. It can be physical, psychological, sexual or financial. However, majority of the cases of domestic violence indicate that male gender intiate domestic violence mainly. Whereas, femal as the intiator of domestic violence are outnumbered when compared to their counterparts. However, any gender can be a victim of it and it can occur in any home. Any relationship is said to be abusive, but several signs are there that will help a person to understand that such events are about to take place.

When children are exposed to such domestic violent event, it is considred child abuse. In the year 2005 around 1490 children died because of child abuse and not any other incidental death like choking of food, accidents like fire or fall which is supposed to be the common reason of injury and death under normal circumstances (Rennison, 2001). Where the death children due to abuse was 1490, around 899,000 children were reported to be the victims either facing abuse or neglect of other types like sexual abuse, physical abuse, psychological abuse and emotional abuse. The following discussion will furnish recommendations in the light of previous researches to stop domestic violence and child abuse.

It has been suggested by a researcher that the crimes of child abuse and violence usually happen in concurrence or together which present the authorities and regulatory bodies in a more difficult situation. The regulatory authorities in relation to child abuse have been a little slow in recognition of the real problem, compared with the problem of domestic violence. This is because when a person abuse another in a domestic setting, the victim may have the maturity to lodge the complain or report the event (Lowenthal, 1996). On the contrary, the cases of child abuse is often neglected because of the incapability of the victim to report such event. It was initially believed that mothers were the main victims of abuse at the hands of a man but later on research findings suggested that children were mostly abused by men.
