Abstract

Human resource management is a process by which people are managed in an organization. It is a practice of key business operations that utilizes the skills including administration of business, communication, and planning of workforce. It is very important to have a well-defined culture of an organization. Strategies of Human Resource are very powerful tools that signal the change of culture and all those changes are reinforced as soon as they are made. By operating on a global level, there is a positive impact of strategic Human Resource Management. It is a broad approach that manages people and workplace environment of an organization. The major goal of HRM is to attract, retain and develop the employees so that they can be competitive enough for expanding its operations globally. Work Culture consists of different aspects that shape behavior of humans as, values that are conscious and unconscious, symbols, ideas, and attitudes.

Human Resource Management

Human resource management is a process through which employees are hired and developed so that they turn to be a more important and valuable to the organization. It is referred to as the strategic management of employees, who on the individual and collective point contributes for the accomplishment of the organizations strategic objectives. It is also considered as a comprehensive approach that manages people, as well as the culture of workplace and environment (Heathfield, n.d.). Key functions of Human Resource Management consist of procurement, integration, development, compensation, and maintenance (www.mba-mentor.com, 2013).

Purpose and Goals of Human Resource Management (HRM)

The basic purpose of human resource management is to make sure that the organization's employees are utilized in a way that, employer should be able to get or attain the best possible benefit from the abilities of employees. Employees achieve material and psychological rewards or incentives from the work they have done. The major goals or responsibilities of Human Resource Management include; retaining low rate of employee turnover, attracting new employees and contributing to employee development.

Work Culture

One of the major factors that impact the organizational performance is culture of the workplace or corporate culture. It is the central idea of any organization that enhances the performance competitively with the help of greater commitment and employee flexibility. Culture within an organization defines the appropriate ways of thinking and behaving in the work place. Culture is created by leaders from which they actually believe that it will give them a competitive advantage (Anonymous, 2005). Employees should be offered a positive ambience in the organization so that they can easily concentrate on their work rather getting involved in work of each other.
