Introduction

The quality of life directly depends on the environment where human beings live, and then it is related to the nature and ecosystem. Concern for the environment is growing, and advancement technology is increasingly allied to sustainable development. Air pollution is largely responsible for the imbalance in the health of the population of large metropolises, which carries most of the vehicles. In this scenario, the industry automaker has invested in technologies with improved fuel economy, reduced levels of emissions with no loss in performance, security, reliability and maintenance of other attributes applied to vehicles in use today (Anderson & Anderson, 2010).

This study presents an approach to the effects of vehicular pollution and energy loss that cause vehicles and proposes the use of a new vehicle technology which is the technology of hybrid electric vehicles. For the described problem, hybrid electric vehicles are considered good. The research will based on the study that air pollution is a major threat to health which is mainly caused by conventional vehicles can be reduced by environment friendly hybrid cars.

Literature Review

The quality of life is directly related to population growth, which has evolving in a significant way. While many developed countries exhibit one negative growth, developing countries are rapidly growing population. It is estimated that the next 40 years, the world population can double spending to reach 12 billion people, number considered the limit of sustainability of the planet (Riley, 2011). Moreover, if we consider also migration of the rural population, the number of people exposed to urban pollution should also increase. This growth represents a significant increase in global vehicle fleet. We see in the table below shows the evolution of the fleet in the world. Further increases in greenhouse gas emissions are quite harmful to the atmosphere.

Despite the facilities achieved with urban transport, as the gain of time in locomotion and comfort, another side of the coin is obvious: the pollution. The impacts caused by the spread of pollutants such as carbon monoxide, through noise pollution resulting from noise emitted by internal combustion vehicles, as well as excessive use of oil, contribute to global warming, air and noise pollution in urban areas and the depletion of natural resources of the planet (Sandy Thomas, 2009).
