Abstract

Hypertension is the most commonly occurring cardiovascular disease in the United States. It occurs when the blood pressure consistently rises above 140/90 mm Hg. It is caused by various factors including excessive use of salt, alcohol, caffeine, or due to obesity and other conditions such as genetic problems. It is treated through both lifestyle changes as well as through the use of proper medication.
