ABSTRACT

In this project, I tried to explore the effectiveness of using illustrations for presenting and portraying movie covers as compared to the modern day photo collage movie covers. The research analyses the history of illustration used for movie posters in the form of an illustrated research. The movie covers, preceding 1990s, used to portray illustrations on the movie cover relative to the movie. However, the movie covers and posters of today are represented by the photo collage of main actors in the movie. Thousands of hours are spent on research by the people involved in making movie covers for designing, commissioning, illustrating, and printing of the wonderful pieces of paper. Therefore, as the movie industry started to expand the studios also started to realize the value of marketing films through creating colourful covers that portrays scenes from their movies. The research comprises of primary, as well as secondary research, in which, the secondary research is conducted by reviewing literature from various online resources and books. The primary research is performed by conducting an email/questionnaire survey of the various artists working in this field.
