ABSTRACT

This is an academic research project that is based on identifying the importance of cognitive systems related to the market orientation. The market orientation in the manufacturing firm is linked to the overall organisational mission. The cognitive models have been found helpful in managing all the activities of the manufacturing firm in an effective way. In depth interview were conducted on the top level CEO and President of the small manufacturing companies to identify the importance of the cognitive systems and models that helps in maintaining the overall market oriented system. The in-depth interviews with the higher authority have helped in identifying the importance of cognitive systems and models. Most of the leaders were found encouraging the cognitive systems and were highly motivated of having their own personal cognitive model, which they can use for planning, organising, commanding and controlling of the manufacturing activities. High market oriented leaders have also expressed their views that they want less departmentalisation in their organisation and due to which they have lower level of market orientation. The establishment of performance system was encouraged by them but in reality they were neglecting the importance of cognitive systems. The cognitive systems can help in managing the all the required aspects of management.
