Improving geo-coding accuracy with candidate selection criteria

The main purpose of this essay is to make an analysis on the improvements of geo-coding accuracy with candidate selection criteria. In the geo-coding systems, mainly there is a need of one geographic reference datasets which help in bringing improvements in the match rates and spatial accuracy. This results in the multiple candidate geo-codes that require the selection of one single best candidate. There are very few scientific evidences in order to formalize this selection process and make comparisons of different strategies (Daniel, 2010). This selection process leads towards the currently used approaches commonly known as hierarch-based criteria. The geo-coding is used in order to make placements of the available reference data layers into the different qualitative and static layers. This result in the return of the first non-ambigious matches and increases the desired and matched confidence. This approach is useful in the assumptions of global relationships and creates accuracy between the referenced data layers. This approach also ignores the local variations which can be exploited as the return of the precise and specific geocodes. There are three alternative strategies which could be adopted, and these strategies are mainly, topologically, uncertainty, and gravitationally-based strategies.

In order to use geocoding for student selection, the geocode addresses can be used after the creation of the address locator. There is a great effect of the process on the understanding of the ways through which the address data is prepared through the address locator, and search the attributes of address. This can also works to improve the accuracy and performance of geocoding.

The three alternative strategies i.e. uncertainty, topologically, and gravitationally based strategies are very helpful in the formation of the selection criteria. It is necessary to conduct evaluation of the performance of ...
