Increasing the Duration of Grade K-12

Introduction

Most of us are familiar with the K-12 public education system. This is the system, which comprises of total thirteen grades. It consists of the initial year kindergarten and then goes through 12-grades (Barrette, Pp 36). This education system is referred to as the public schooling System in countries like Canada, United States, and United Kingdom and in many parts of the Europe.

In United States K-12, education system is a compulsory education system after the legislation passed by the President George W Bush. He made the primary education compulsory on all children's in any part of the United States. This education can be attained from a public or private funded institution (Brewer, Pp 65). The children who have reached the age of 6-8 are required by law to go to these education systems.

The first step in child learning start when he is at the age of five is Kindergarten .During this period he is admitted to the kindergarten. This Kindergarten is a German term, which means Garden for Children. In this phase, the children learn to recognize different shapes and show their skills while playing in the area. This concept of Kindergarten in United States was implemented in the year 1856. Thus, the student after the kindergarten moves through different grades and his overall learning increases. The learning is maximum at the K-12 Grades.

However in the past few years, what American consider as the best education System, has shown a decline in grades of it students. These declines in grades of the students are mostly seen when the student goes for various test (Lieberman, Pp 106). Keeping these declining grades in view, we need to find out whether the concerned authorities should raise the year in education system or give possible justified reasoning for this decline in grades, so that the year of K-12 grades should not be increased.

Discussion

A Source of Quality Education Grade K-12

K-12 is founded on the principle that every child deserves the chance to reach his potential in his life. Everyone has the right to education as per the constitution of United States, thus K-12 is the path through which dream is being fulfilled. In the initial phase, the students who were passing through this system of education they scored great in various test held over the world. Their average score was quite remarkable. Now we are seeing that the student passing out of this system there average score has reduced (Science, Mathematics, and Mathematics Science, Pp 108). According to the scores of SAT, the national averages in the Test have reduced by one percent in the year 2012. If we are going to compare these score to the national score of 1972, that is exactly 40-year back, we will find a difference of 30 in the average score. This is quite a great reduction, thus we are going to find out the reason associated with it and the possible solution to it.
