Independent Research Paper Assignment: Capital Punishment

Introduction of the Issue

Advocating capital punishment or death penalty justifies through the principle of an eye for an eye. It is according to belief that punishment should fit with the crime. There are many schools of thoughts that argue or favor about capital punishment that its execution should be in retribution of the crime. This is an empirical-based research paper on Capital Punishment. It proposes a critical and evaluative review on the deterrent effects and consequences of capital punishment. The purpose of this empirical-based research paper is to diverge focus on differential experiences of the nation about the regime study on the death penalty. These facts that are exploited in these studies have revealed about the cross-state differences for variation over time for individuals states who seek for application of the definitive punishment or the death penalty in practice (Chalfin et al., 2013).

The state and society have enforced many innocents as victims of capital punishment. They are the victim of economic misery, ignorance, inequality, and moral deformation of households with impacts from development, nourishment, and degeneration of inheritance alcohol. This also explains the fact that there are many societal determinants of crime that changes every year. This topic interests me to envision about the execution of criminal risk and interest of potential murderers about the cost of murder that would be manifest in different years into the future.

This empirical-based research would facilitate to find about deterrent effects of the death penalty or capital punishment as a whole through the methodological use of state-level, country-level and panel data about murder rates as one of the basic methodological problems.

Policy Implications and Political Support for/Opposition to your Issue

Overview

There are minor but significant issues about appropriate model estimate to a small degree examination. The literature on the current research reveals about the deterrent effects of capital punishment that methodologically uses panel data to test on the whole. It finds that present research with the use of penal data was uninformative for implication of any policy or judicial audience. However, unsupportive theoretical justification and unconvincing identification of causal effects made it uninformative on a large degree. Another argument is related to the problem in the specification of theoretically correct association between murder rates and execution rates of crime in the context of future research (Chalfin et al., 2013). The major focus for the future study should imply on the discrete chain in policy. The example includes abolition, execution moratorium, or reinstatement of the death penalty. The future research related to study on capital punishment should also employ current econometric advances in the robust inference and counterfactual estimation. It is also almost impossible to evaluate and address whether modulations in executions is due to trends in crime, general shifts in a judicial state, or modifications in de facto policy related to capital cases. It truly embarks about the absence of traceable policy change. There is also no definite knowledge about ...
