Abstract

Individualism is the moral, political philosophy, ideology, or social point of view that emphasizes "the moral dignity of the individual ". Individualists promote the exercise of their own goals and desires and as the independence and self-sufficiency while opposing most external interventions on personal choices, whether social, state, or any other group or institution. On the opposite side we find the collectivism. In this study we try to explore the concept of individuality and self-discovery in a holistic context. The main focus of the research is on analysing the two concepts in the context of literature. For this purpose Ayn Rand's novel “The Anthem” and the George Orwell's 1984 is taken to be studied. The research also analyzes many aspects of the individuality and self-discovery in a human being.
