Infants use prosodic and statistical cues to learn about the syntax of their native language: Facts and Theoretical Implications

Introduction

Prosody refers to intonation of speech and is sometimes called the melody or the conduct of the key. The duration of the relationship with the number of bytes is known as prosody. These are sometimes used as synonym prosodic features, which cover more than one sound at a time: at least one byte or one word or often the whole sentence. Prosody is thus of segments i.e. vowels and consonants. Choosing the right prosody for learning is the most important thing for pronunciation of a foreign language. Errors in individual vowels or consonants are often heard nothing when using their mother tongue; therefore, it is important for the children to start learning prosody. It is also often that when the prosody is correct, the individual sound is also easier to learn and build on the correct prosody (Thiessen, 2003, 706-716).

Statistical learning is a fundamental mechanism of information processing in the human. Probabilistic flood of sensory data determined regularities, which leads to structures structuring of information overload. It is seen that the statistical principles are essential for language acquisition and probably also for speech recovery in children. So according to current knowledge statistical learning, word segmentation, acquiring knowledge and simple grammatical rules is very important for infants. The question is still whether statistical learning involves all aspects of the language acquisition or not.

Discussion

Prosodic phenomena are effective than individual sounds or words in a foreign language. Based on the difficulties of learners different source languages ??in prosody and already known brokerage methods is the contribution new procedures. With the help of this, greater awareness can be achieved with respect to the foreign language prosody. To sensitize learners to prosodic differences, to provide audio files that have been generated by voice synthesis, there is a possibility of the selected acoustic parameters to control, which are important for the prosody. The prosodic properties can be preserved so while the realization of the speech sound remains to native level (Swingley, 2005, 86-132). Thus, a focus on properties is easier. Further, by visualizing intonation contours using the computer a direct visual and auditory comparison the same spoken utterances of learners with native speakers of the possible is a form of informative feedback that is used for example in self-study programs.

In addition to this, an explanation of the method based on audio samples provides a better understanding of the concept. It is based on experience of the efficacy of extracts from individual pronunciation learning counseling sessions.

Awareness of prosody

With the pronunciation training should therefore age, mother tongue, and so far learned foreign languages, learning traditions and, ideally, the individual learning styles of learners are taken into account. If the result of the heterogeneity of learner groups is not possible, at least different learning opportunities are made ??so that:
