Interprofessional Collaboration Reflection

A good communication skill is in great request. In order to inspire a shared vision, we need to know what is being “shared”. In other words, what do people want to pursue and what interests and hopes do they have. These explicit demands, the students should find their own professional understanding within the multidisciplinary team. Interdisciplinary competence arises from the common search for morally satisfactory resolution of the case history and by the common struggle to find a medically and ethically acceptable care of the patient.

Collaboration is a complex phenomenon whose definitions are very vague and variable. The field Health seems to have been the pioneer in the recognition of interprofessional collaboration as a mode intervention with clients. Several writers have offered interesting experiences in various sectors such as chronic disease management, palliative care, and care for elderly care mental and primary health care. These experiments are mostly focused on two or more three professions, notably doctors, nurses and pharmacists. A key component of a collaborative approach is to identify a common language. The definitions use a variety of terms to represent the relationships between professionals in disciplines that offer different services simultaneously to a single customer. These definitions have not always been clearly defined or consistently, however they are usually referring to the interdisciplinary collaboration (Harbaugh, 2009).

Commercialization of the research results may lead to patents or licenses and generate income for the researcher's institution. All of the above can enhance the prestige and productivity of a faculty researcher, which in turn increases the ability of the university to define its role in local economy, attract high-quality students and faculty, and increase public funding. Collaborative research may be of particular benefit to junior faculty just beginning research. They will have the opportunity to learn from other faculty, gaining from their knowledge and experience. Participation in the collaborative team by established, reputable researchers can lend credibility to the entire project as well as help secure funding. Collaboration can lead to the creation of new ideas and fresh approaches, and multiple group members mean fewer errors and oversights. Researchers focused on a common goal engage in collegiality, defined by trust and respect, providing constructive criticism and emotional support. Individual participants in the group may gain interpersonal skills, including respect for diversity and conflict resolution.

I recently had the opportunity to participate in a multidisciplinary team (MDT), which was held in the buildings, and neurological. The health sciences are undergoing very rapid advances that present new ethical challenges, social and legal professional practice. Consequently, the education of health professionals should prepare people to be able adapt to these conditions in an environment of health care changes rapidly.
