This paper discusses the book invitation to sociology by Berger, Peter. The book discusses the sociological approach and its difference from academic disciplines, like economics and law and conventional wisdom. He has also discussed the social, social and societal problems. He also defines that there are many levels of reality which are seen behind social structures. This book was selected because it introduces the concept of sociology which is important to be understood. Berger demonstrated at various stages of his writing (1963 text, postscript 1992 preface to 2006) on the structural state of the discipline and the dangers that threaten it such as the parochialism, insignificance, rationalism, including ideology, but the harshness of the academic world in which to develop the young and old practitioners bitterness which it clearly does not promote the healthy development of the discipline Berger incorporated passion.

The author in this book also compares the effect of culture that when entering new culture, the traditions, activities and lifestyle are opposite and then in general observed by an individual. It can be derived from the book that sociology breaks down the frontage of appearances and assumptions to reveal differences and deviances that can be political, cultural, moral, religious etc.
