Introduction

The purpose of this study is to expand the boundaries of our knowledge by exploring some relevant facts and figures related to ethical issue in health care. Proponents of abortion often take their arguments in extreme cases as a first step to open the door to legalization of abortion generally. Some speak of "therapeutic abortion". In this case the term "therapeutic" is used incorrectly. "Therapy" means to cure and abortion never cure anyone. What's more, in 1951, Congress of the American College of Surgeons stated that "everyone who does not know a therapeutic abortion or modern methods to treat complications of pregnancy, or will not take the time to use them." Also, medicine has made great strides in the treatment of pregnancy "ectopic" (when the baby grows outside the uterus). His Holiness Pope Pius XII says, "it is a mistake to ask the question with this alternative: either the life of the child or the mother”. With advent of latest medical procudures and use of technologies, the issue of alternative related to saving the life of either mother or baby, is meaningless. It is true that there are rarely situations where the mother would die if she is not involved with procedures that unwittingly cause the baby's death. Example: surgery to remove certain types of cancer in women, this is not an abortion (Rosen, 2007). The Church teaches that in the case of pregnancy, complications should be provided efforts to save mother and child and never reach an output that cost the death of one of them. The Church teaches that human life is sacred and inviolable at every moment of its existence, from conception to natural death. In the next section, the author will identify all relevant positions and opinions on the issue of abortion.

The argument that is always mentioned against the Christian position on abortion is, "What if the mother's health in danger?” In all honesty, this is the most difficult question to resolve about abortion. First, let us remember that this covers less than one tenth of the abortions performed in the world today. Also, remember that God is a God of miracles. He can preserve the life of the mother and child, despite the medical prognosis. Ultimately, this issue can be resolved between the husband, wife and God. Any couple facing this extremely difficult situation should pray to the Lord for wisdom (Jacques 1:5) to know what he wants them to do. 94% of abortions performed in the world today are for reasons other than health of the mother. The vast majority of cases can be described as "A woman and / or her partner decides, they do not want the baby they have designed." This is the greatest of evils (Beauchamp, 2001).
