Introduction

Delinquent actions of juvenile ascertain the involvement or participation of individual with unlawful act which is considered to be a violation of state, municipal or Federal law. The person below the age of 18 years is considered to be the juvenile. When the juvenile commits any unlawful act then such juvenile is considered to be the “juvenile offender”. During the period of past fifty years, there has been increment in the juvenile delinquency. Due to the increment in the juvenile delinquency, acts of juvenile offenders have been compiled for displaying widespread declines and increases related to the crimes within the United States of America. This paper will examine, dissect and identify the overall decrement in the arrests of juvenile, simple assaults as well as increment in juvenile narcotics offenses. In addition to this, the paper will focus on the implications for female as well as minority juveniles. Furthermore, the paper will focus on the trend of juvenile arrests. Thus, this paper will represent the statistics of juvenile crime (National Archive of Criminal Justice Data, 2010).

Overall Decrement in Juvenile Arrests

In the year 2008, decrement in the juvenile arrests was observed. The decrement in the juvenile arrests in the year 2008 was found to be 3 percent as compared to the year 2007. Violent and brutal crimes such as non-negligent manslaughter and murder, robbery, aggravated assault and forcible rape decreased in the years 2008 and 2006. Rather, there had been decrement in the violent crimes from the year 1987 to the year 2008. Juvenile arrests decreased to the figure of 10 percent, but property crime arrests were found to be increasing. Property crimes had gone through increment between the period of 2006 & 2008 according to Juvenile Arrests 2008 statement (Puzzanchera, 2009).
