Introduction to K-12 Education

K-12 is the largest online education provider in the United States. It provides various online educational courses from kindergarten (K) to grade 12 (12), hence the name K-12. K-12 is a leader in online education and is considered pioneers in the field. The two factors that make K-12 outstanding within the education realms are the development of their own curriculum and the commitment towards providing education for every child. The learning facilities that are provided to individuals are customized to each child's needs. The online school provides interactive online and hands-on offline educational courses to a wide variety of students. Performance appraisal, staff development, induction and organizational development within the organization are especially important for the service that is being provided. K-12 places special emphasis on the quality of education that it offers and aims to establish practices that ensure optimal organizational development so that each student progresses through its name and becomes a positive contributor to the society (Albrecht1992).



Performance of Functions

K-12 relies heavily on effective Human Resource (HR) utilization. Without an organized structure of HR within the organization, effective learning mechanisms are impossible to achieve. The organization realizes this significance of HR and maintains proper monitoring tools for them. Special emphasis is placed on the performance appraisal of the staff members including the faculty, mentoring and training for staff development, appropriate measures for effective induction and organizational development on the whole (Briloff1981).

These functions are performed by qualified individuals who make up the HR team of K-12. It also avails the services of external personnel who can better appraise the performance of the faculty without any bias and prejudices.

Frequency of Performance of Functions

K-12 was founded on the idea that every child deserves a chance to achieve to his or her potentials. Education is a fundamental right of every child who comes to the world. This right has to be given to them in the best credible manner. The alternatives they offer are most often in partnership with public schools, at no cost to families. These provide a different path that works out very well to a diverse range of students. The HR practices that the organization undertakes are a reflection of its commitment and dedication to the same mission (Cheffers2005). Qualified personnel are developed to impart the education or to facilitate in the dissemination of required knowledge-based learning services. The functions of performance appraisal, induction, staff training and development, and organizational development take place almost regularly. While organizational development is a function that progresses side by side, the other core functions of HR takes place on a daily basis.
