Introduction

Kate Chopin (1950-1904), one of the greatest and celebrated authors of all times, belonged to America, and is known for writing short stories and novels. She is considered to be one of the forerunners of the feminist authors who lived in the 20th century. Her work was initially praised and cherished, but as she started covering bolder and open topics, especially those related to the emerging romantic and sexual passion of women, her reputation was ruined and she was lost in oblivion. Her book The Awakening (1899) received severe criticism due to the same reason, and her fame was finally recovered after her sudden and early death in 1904.
