Introduction

The kidneys are two small bean-shaped organs located toward the rear of the torso and behind the lower ribs. Although it is born with a pair of kidneys, the body can still function effectively with only one healthy kidney. Kidney function include filtering waste from the blood, maintaining balance of the liquid content of the body, regulating blood pressure and red blood cell production. Disease, birth defects or injury can damage the kidneys and make them unable to function normally. When 85 to 90% of the kidneys no longer work, we use the term "end stage renal failure" and recommends dialysis. There are two types of dialysis, peritoneal dialysis and hemodialysis.

The type of dialysis replaces the work of the damaged kidney with a machine using an artificial kidney to filter blood is called hemodialysis. During this procedure, blood is slowly extracted from the body and through a special filter called a dialyzer, where waste and excess fluid are removed. Cleaned and filtered blood is then returned to the body. Before performing hemodialysis, you must have adequate access to the vascular system. Consequently, we surgically created a special type of permanent arteriovenous access. Hemodialysis usually takes place three times a week and can be used as continuous treatment until the kidneys resume their activity or until the patient receives a kidney transplant.

The dialysis procedure is based on two scientific principles: diffusion and ultra filtration. The spread has a critical role in dialysis, but it does not work like the normal kidney, while the ultra filtration technique is very similar to the principle works with the normal kidney. The basic principle is that if two solutions have different concentrations of solute, separated by a semi-permeable membrane, e.g. the cellophane, then it follows that the two solutes tend to reach the same concentration. In vivo, the cellophane is replaced by peritoneum, a membrane that is lively and intelligent. The movement of solute particles proceeds from the higher to the solution concentration to lower concentration. The dialysis membranes were replaced with cuprophane membranes, derived from cellulose, whereas in most modern synthetic dialyzer membranes are used (polimetilmecrilato, polycarbonate, etc.).

Types of dialysis

Dialysis is an artificial procedure to extract the patient's blood or toxic substances harmful to the body, as well as excess water accumulation.

These treatments can improve symptoms and live longer, offering the future possibility of performing a kidney transplant. Hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis are treatments to replace the function of the kidneys have stopped working. These treatments allow you to live longer and feel better, but not cure the disease. High blood pressure

Nerve Injuries

Anaemia (too few red blood cells in the blood)
