Abstract

This study provides an opportunity to evaluate, critique, and advocate for appropriate assessment of young children. The main focus of this study is the children of Kindergarten class. This research mainly focuses on the different systems available for the evaluation and assessment available for these classes. This research also highlights the importance of assessment for the kindergartens. In this study different research studies proposed by different other researchers are also presented. There are different approaches for the assessment and these will be discussed in this study which will assist in identifying the best way for the assessment at the kindergarten level.

Introduction

Assessment and evaluation play a major role in the process of teaching and learning. It provides the fundamental structure and framework the process of teaching. Both these systems provide guidance to judge the progress of a student and to plan further strategies to bring improvement in this process. It is the most important criteria to bring improvement and advancement in the performance of the students. Assessment, teaching and reporting provides the basic criteria of for the better system of determining the process of teasing and to bring advancement in the teaching strategies. This is most difficult to deal with the kindergarten level as the students do not have any idea what this means for. This is the reason that teachers need to be very efficient while designing the activities for the assessment and evaluation of these students. The first step is to make the proper system and plan to assess the productivity of these children. Assessment is the process in which teacher collects information of every individual and their complete progress throughout the session. Later the teacher needs to arrange all these information through proper documentation. This requires the complete information of all the students and with individual attention for the proper assessment of all these students. The second important part of the teaching is to do the proper evaluation. This requires close analysis of the students' progress. This includes the reflection of the students' learning and performance. All these information assists teachers to make decisions for the improvement in teaching strategies for these kindergarten kids. The major concern is that all of these better strategies and decision making for the progress of these students depends on the better assessment and evaluation. Proper assessment plays a very important role and it should be done in a way that can provide information about the factors that influence the progress of the students and creates hindrance in the process of achievement of their tasks. It is also important for the teachers to understand that the students at kindergarten level needs more time and attention to responds to these assessments and therefore, it is requires that the methods of assessments chosen must be appropriate. To resolve this issue there is need to look for the different methods and techniques available for the assessment of kindergarten class.
