The paper will discuss the role of knowledge management in organizations and discuss how knowledge management systems projects have either failed or have succeeded to deliver value across business sectors. Knowledge management is considered as a significant asset for business in the global economy. For this paper, we analyzed the problem by examining a case study of IBM. Survey was conducted for the organization and it was determined that the organization was not able to determine the key knowledge it has or from where to acquire it. It was found that training and identification of existing and missing knowledge is important to be considered. It is recommended that managers should choose the appropriate strategy for implementing knowledge management for their organization. Commercial and Scientific communities consider that organizations can keep their long term success in competitive areas by utilizing the power of knowledge.
