Introduction

Korea's geographical location lies exactly between China and Japan. There were several invasions and conquest attempts by the Mongols, Chinese and Japanese. While Japan occupied Korea and later the Koreans banned their language and culture, and committed other misdeeds of another.

On 25th June 1950, a conventional war started between South Korea and North Korea. In the books of history, this war known as “The Korean War”. The Korean war was not only between South Korea and North Korea, but there were other countries involved in it too. In the Korean War, the United Nations was supporting the South Korea, and the People's Republic of China was supporting North Korea in which all the military aid being provided by the Soviet Union. When World War 2 ended at the conclusion of Pacific war Korea, physically divided into two parts by an agreement among the victorious Allies which caused this war. Since 1910, till the end of World War 2 Japan ruled this Korean Peninsula. After which, this peninsula divided by the American administrators when Japan surrendered in 1945. This was done along the 38th parallel, and the northern part occupied by the Soviet troops whereas, the southern part occupied by the troops from United States.

In 1948, a communist government established in the northern part as free elections could not be held in the peninsula which deepened the division of the north and the southern part. Between the two Koreas, a political border observed due to the 38th parallel. The tension intensified as the in the months preceding the war the negotiations for the reunification between the north and the south continued. On 25th June 1950, the conditions of the peninsula escalated as South Korea invaded by North Korea. In the cold war, this armed conflict was the most significant.

In order to prevent the invasion, the aid of South Korea provided by the United Nations particularly the US, but within a short span of two months, the forces forced to fall back to a small part in the countries southern part known as the perimeter of the Pusan. After this, the North Koreans driven back by a counter-offensive force of the United Nations almost near the river of Yalu, beyond the 38th parallel, and from North's side China entered the war. Because of this the counter-offensive force of the United Nations pushed back to the 38th parallel by the Chinese as they launched force to counter the offences.

The Chinese armies and North Korea aided materially by the Soviet Union. On 27th July 1953, an armistice signed which ceased the war due to which, the border near the 38th parallel between the Koreas got restored, and the 4 kilometer wide Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) created. Finally, peace agreements fail to be recorded in April 1954 and moved completely. To date there is no peace agreement. Still in the present day obscure fighting outbreaks observed in this area.
