Introduction

The phonetics and phonology are two disciplines of languages that are charged with studying the sounds of language. The field of this study over and over is not exactly equal, since both disciplines focus on different aspects. In any case, phonics is a specialty that encompasses an area greater than phonology. In the first place it is purely acoustic basis, whereas in the second place, given the tendency to consider the mental image of what we perceive. The language for our paper will focus on the Spanish language with special emphasis on comparing Spanish with English. When analyzing the language we see different levels. There are 3 levels defined on the methodoical basis:

Phonic: covers the phonic and phonological.

Lexicon: includes the lexical and semantic.

Syntactic: covers the morphosyntactic.

These levels fall short of establishing by segmentation and switching. Segmentation is by changing a few cuts and switching elements for others.

Phonetics, Phonology and Etymology

According to the Royal Academy of the Spanish language, Spanish word comes from the Provençal espaignol, and this Hispaniolus Medieval Latin, meaning of Hispania, Spain. Hispaniolus comes from the Latin name of the province of “Hispania "which included the Iberian Peninsula and Balearic or, rather, as hypercorrect. It is recalled that in Late Latin the h was silent, but for reasons euphonious, was added to an e-words beginning with s + consonant. Consequently, it was believed that the written form was correct Hispaniolus Spaniolus (cf. Italian: storia by history).

Another theory is that Spaniolus (literally hispanito, Spaniard) comes from the Occitan espaignol. Menéndez Pidal etymological offers another explanation: the classic or hispanicus hispanus took Vulgar Latin suffix-one (as in Burgundy, Breton, Frisian, Saami , Saxon, etc.) and * hispanione spent in old Castilian to españón, "then the two nasal disimilando it was Spanish, with the ending-ol, which is not used to signify nations" (Spencer, pp. 288). The other name, Castilian, from the Latin Castellanus, meaning of Castile, medieval kingdom located in the central part of the Iberian Peninsula. Phonemes are subjected by the phonology, while the phones are the subject study of phonetics.
