The lifestyle of a common American citizen, anywhere in the country, has drastically changed since the sorrowful and gruesome attack of 9/11 on the national security and the civil population of America. Not only the nation is standing at a point where it has to live with the haunting memories of those attacks, and be dreadful of any other potential disaster, but also adapt to the changing lifestyle in the context of such horrific activities.

Liberties Before and After 9/11

The beauty of America and its lifestyle always remained in the fact that it relishes and propagates the acknowledgement of rights, as well as the freedom to live with liberty, without being worried about the violation of rights or privacy. However, that was the beautiful scenario of the American lifestyle before the calamity of September 11; when the inhabitants, let them be citizens or non-citizens of America, had not only the right to privacy, but also the right to security, equal opportunities and much more. The nation in a genuine sense did seem like untied nation, who would put behind the minor difference such as ethnicity, race, religion and much more, and work towards a common goal. The common goal was to work together for the betterment of the nation and the well being of its inhabitants.

However, the scenario has totally changed after 9/11. The establishment posed significant limitations on the liberties of the common man of America. Interestingly, it was the minority groups, such as Muslims, who suffered more, with the new strategy of the establishment. The limitation of the liberties not only entailed the invasion on the privacy of individuals, but also the unexpected and warrantless apprehension/arresting of the citizens or non citizens, the hidden or secret cells, the torture processes and much more (Michaels, 2005).

Bill Of Rights and the Restriction of Civil Liberties

The current scenario endows some asserting powers and authorities to the government and ruling authorities of the country. Interestingly, where the bill provides the government with the liberties, it at the same time, snatches or limits the liberties of the common inhabitants of the country. The current freedom of establishment permits the government and the respective authorities to attain the personal information of the citizens, without any prior notice to the individual or the permission. Moreover, the most unrestrained liberty, what this liberty gives to the government, is the authority of detaining any alien individual who may look and appear to be a threat to the peace and security of the region, and they also possess the authority to apprehend them without any open recognition or confession.
