Erikson's 8 Stages

Erickson's 8 stages of psychosocial development have played a prominent role in the psychological developments and thus the life of an elderly would be related to the 8 stages discussed by Erikson. In Psychosocial development theory, development evolves into eight stages. The first four stages take place in the period of infant and childhood, and the last three during adulthood and old age. Erikson gives special importance to the adolescent period, due to the fact that the transition between childhood and adulthood, where there are significant events for the adult personality.

Each stage contributes to the development of the total personality (epigenetic principle) and is therefore all important even after crossing them. As each child has a specific chronological pace, you should not assign an exact duration of each stage. The core of each stage is a basic crisis that exists not only during that particular stage, this will be more prominent, but also in its subsequent level of consequences, taking roots in previous previews.

Erikson's stages presented in terms of basic quality of ego that arises at each stage, discussed the ego forces that arise in successive stages and described the peculiar ritualization of each. This was by him referred to as a playful and culturally standardized way to experience an experience in everyday interaction of a community. The identity formation begins in the first four stages, and the sense of this negotiated adolescence evolves and influences the last three stages.
