Introduction

In the case of Lifeboat ethics, author Garrett James Hardin has explored the differences in countries with regards to the United States. Hardin considers the position of rich countries to be like that of being in a lifeboat, which are safe from the adverse circumstances prevailing in the world (Hardin, pp. 50). On the other hand, the poor countries' position can be compared to that of swimming in the ocean, where the swimmer had no fixed destiny.
