Introduction

Chiropractic is an alternative medical method of treating various health issues. The main concepts of the chiropractic is that they think that an individual has the ability in their body to self heal, the basic goal of the chiropractics is to manipulate and adjust the spine so as they believe such adjustments can heal a person effectively. Recent advances states that the chiropractics are successful in treating a variety of vision problems.

Article 1: (Wingfield & Gorman, 2000)

Research Purpose/Question/Hypothesis

The purpose of this research was to study the effects of the spine manipulation i.e. the chiropractic techniques on the vision of a human. It generated a question as how the spinal manipulation results in improved vision.

Approach & Type/Design of study

It was a case study with an experimental design and a qualitative approach.

Sample & Setting

A case of a female belonging to a U.S family was examined who was 25 years old uniocular patient.

Treatment or intervention used?

The experimenter was able to treat vision of a lady by a slight manipulation of spine this research gave hope to other scientist to conduct more experiments in the field of chiropracts.

Research Methods

The chiropractic spinal manipulative therapy was used to treat the patient suffering from Severe Glaucomatous Visual Field Deficit. The slight manipulation of spine helped to regain the vision of the female.

Key Findings

The patient described in the study recovered her vision which was quiet remarkable and unexpected, which raised a research question that whether the spine manipulation by chiropractics succeeds in management of the glaucomatous visual loss.

Possible Weakness, Limitations of Study

Due to lack of literature at that time, more studies were required to confirm the effects of spinal manipulation in improving the vision loss.

Article 2: (Alcantara & Spear, 2006)

Research Purpose/Question/Hypothesis

The purpose of this proposal is to explore how the chiropractic care offers an alternative approach to the health care sector as many instances has been encountered where the vision of the patients have improved who were following a chiropractic care.

Approach & Type/Design of study

It is an intensive analysis of an individual unit, i.e. a case study. It is qualitative approach to find the effects of chiropractic care on eye sight.

Sample & Setting

A case of 8 year old U.S. male patient was studied. Other 23 patients were also tested after a spine manipulative therapy to check the improvement in their visions.

Research Methods /Treatment or intervention used

The chiropractic treatment in the study was done by the adjustment of the 4th cervical vertebrae helped in improving the eye sight.

Key Findings

This study gave a supporting evidence to the prospect that the eye functioning can be improved by the chiropractic care.

Possible Weakness, Limitations of Study

There is a further need of researches in this field to confirm the effect of this treatment.
