Introduction

Murrin provides detailed analysis of the life of slaves and the hardships they suffered during their life in Chesapeake in 1790 (Murrin, et.al, 2007). These slaves suffered problems mainly due to the racial, social and cultural discriminations. These African Americans had to suffer not only physical and social hardships, but also suffered emotionally due to the boundaries drawn between these poor slaves and humanity. They were treated as inferior and during nineteenth century, most of these slaves were “sold into cotton states” (Murrin, et.al, 2007, p.359).
