Introduction

Lucretia Mott was one of the women who struggled for antislavery and women's rights (Hill, 2006). She proved herself as an outstanding leader and women activist. She was well known for her reform movements. After World War II, there were changes occurred all over the world. Major reason for those changes was that people suffered more during World War due to the economic, political, social and racial issues. It was the time when women took men's job to support their families and they realized that they are not inferior. This was the beginning when women first realized their rights and stood for it. Lucretia Mott was one of those women who participated in various movements like abolition, temperance, and pacifism. Lucretia fought for the women's right for education and their right to vote. She was one of those women who played major role in organizing Women's Rights Convention at Seneca Falls. It was an organization that fought for the women's right for Suffrage. Before this time women had no rights they were only suppose to look after their families and children. Lucretia Mott was the women who not only fought for this but also proved that women can manage home and children along with their education and job. She was the mother of six children and she worked for the women's rights and also managed her basic responsibilities towards her family. Most of the women activists of that time proved that educated mother can manage a home and her children in a better way, as well as they can perform their positive role in the society.

Discussion

Lucretia Mott belonged to the family of Quakers and in 1821 she became a Quaker minister. She was already active in the social movements like abolitionist movement; she raised her voice against slavery and during Civil wars when there were various movements for the right of freedom she was with them. She also raised her voice against political system in which there was no seat for women. It was for the first time that these women reformers joined for their rights and it resulted in first women's rights convention at Seneca Falls, New York. After first convention there were a series of various other reforms and movements by these women activists. This motivated various other women and they also participated in the movements for women's rights. The main objective of those movements was women's right to vote and women's equality.

Anti Slavery Movements and Concept of Women's Equality

Lucretia started her career as a teacher where she first realized the inequality and injustice with women, where men were more paid then women. She was also against the slavery and all these social and gender issues. She was also active in various social activities during her teaching career.
