Introduction

The important question to answer as the head of a Strategic Planning team of an Irish College is to understand the internationalization process and its importance for the students, faculty and other stakeholders involved. The primary goal of internationalizing colleges is to increase the knowledge worldwide in a meaningful and sustainable way. The major things to consider are the cultures, communication systems, political conditions, and the overall macroeconomic and internal assessment of the college itself. The current era of the 21st century gives greater importance for colleges to expand and increase their international student's base. The process entails issues of competition to attract leading students and professors to study and teach in the college. The main aims of the strategic planning for the Irish college include providing an environment which gives greater educational experience for the students and a coordinated act of the university to follow in a strategic manner. This paper discussed the strategic planning process for the Irish university in relation to maintaining relationships and expanding its student base in international markets like Argentina.

Macro-environment

The macro-economic factors are the uncontrollable external factors that affect the ways of operations of any business. They cannot be controlled beforehand and usually changes have to be made within the processes employed by the business. They are mostly analyzed using the PESTLE models which are broken down into political, economic, social and technological factors. The Irish college needs to understand the macroeconomic factors of Argentina and consequently make strategic decisions that help it to foster better outcomes. Similarly, the internal assessment of the college's strengths, weaknesses must be checked to see how well it can incorporate international students within national borders. The strategic plan entails a comprehensive process of understanding international strengths for the college in every area of the university. There are various direct and indirect benefits to the Irish College by engaging globally in Argentina and other countries. The direct advantage is attraction and retention of high-caliber students and preparing them to face the challenges of the real world. The college aims to have leadership in local and international communities in disciples of energy, security, health and other major fields.

Environment for Internationalization in Argentina

The economy of Argentina comes in the upper middle class quartile of the economy. The country is filled with rich natural resources and has a high literacy rate. They have an export oriented agricultural sector and an expanded industrial base which makes them a highly attractive nations of the world. However, they lack consistency in their economic growth and facing extreme recessional outcomes based on failure in income distribution with rise in poverty levels. Previously, it was one of the riches countries of the world; however today that is not the case, the overall quality of life is better with high GDP per capita.
