Management and Managerial Work

Introduction

In this essay we will be discussing how management practices evolved in the organizational setups and how are they different today as compared to the historic times. We will also highlight the time when the employees were the slaves in the U.S. economy in organizations and that is when the concept of management emerged. This part is conveniently excluded by the historians when it comes to discussing management practices. However slavery has left a very strong imprint in the management practices and the ideas, till today. Followed by this discussion, the essay will further put light on the current managerial practices in organizations and how the control over the employees has changed over time.

In the discussion section, there will be a detailed comparative analysis on how different the management practices of today are and how they have changed over time as they have evolved and applied in different organizations. We will further discuss how the power over employees keep them motivated towards their goals in the organization and overall boosts up the organizational behaviour of the employees.

However, today the management perspective is also quite a different one than just being a bureaucratic one, where the managers only passed orders to the employees. Today, there is less of an authoritative power over the employees and more of collaboration and interaction between the managers and the employees/the staff. The essay will also highlight the impact of these new ideas evolving in management and how they are contributing in the better performances of the employees and the organization on the whole.
