Mature Alaskans Seeking Skills Training (MASST) is known as the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) at federal level. In addition to it, MASST can be named as the “Community Service Senior Opportunities Act' as embraces opporutunites for the matured Alaskans. In Alaska, MASST program is admisnitered by the Employment Security Division of the Department of Labor and Workforce Development. The intention of SCSEP is to promote and facilitate opportunites for the matured individuals in the context of economic prosperity as well as self-sufficiency. In addition to it, SCSEP is aimed to enhance the availability of the opportunities for matured people with the intention to provide community service activities that induce employement opportunities at community level. SCSEP basically provides employment opportunites to those matured Alaskans who are above age 55 or older and are unemployed or have low-income. In addition to it, SCSEP has intention to provide training to those matured individulas who have inadequate employment prospects. Though, it should be taken into account that SCSEP has intention to enhance the number of matured Alaskans who can avail the opportunities and benefits of unsubsidized employment opportunites in public as well as private sectors (Peeler, 2009)

The programs intends to ensure the availablity of the adequate places for the matured Alaskans in the community service positions after providing them effective job training with the intention to polish their skills as well as to provide assistance with the itnetion to make them self-sufficient. However, it should be taken into account that the SCSEP provides adequate support to organizations as well by enhancing the probability of organizational benefits. These programs help in increasing civic engagement with the intention to boost the strength of the communities of matured people that have insufficient economic resources and are suffering with the low income. In addition to it, this program is aimed to induce the ability of Alaska to retain and sustain the matured workforce of the comunity with the intention to utilize the valuable resources as well as to boost the independence of the matured peopel of Alaska. For this purpose, the SCSEP program provides adequate training programs to the matured people with the intention to enhance their skills as well as to make the matured Alaskans having independent lifestyle as well as to provide meaningful contributions to the community in terms of skilled laborforce (Penner, 2002).
