Technology has created several ways for the people to communicate information between families, friends, managers and upper to lower staff in an organization. It is necessary that depending upon the information fastest medium should be used so that information is received by the respective authorities on time. According to December mediated communication is a process in which different networks and technologies are used in order to convey message from place to another. The mediated communication involves different kinds of technological devices that facilitates in quick transfer of information from one place to another. Many communication analysts view that the advancement in mediated communication had an impact on the social communication and interpersonal communication. The assignment will provide an analysis of how the mediated communication altered the social or the interpersonal communication.

Discussion

According to Whittaker, people today have understood the importance of mediated communication and would agree with the fact that it has improved the level of communication between people. In early times people believed that mediated communication is an ill for the interpersonal communication but the invention of several information technology tools has replaced face to face communication with the mediated information.

Mediated Communication has made life easy for the people as fast communication can now takes place that transmit millions of information in a very small second. Mediated communication had an effect on the way of life and has enabled human beings to overcome the limitations of interpersonal communication. There are different limitations which are overcome by the mediated communication usage like the limitation of distance between the two people through using different technologies speedy and efficient transfer of information can be done over a very long distance. Mediated communication has included in it information technology like the use of video conferencing, video chatting, use of Skype technology and etc. that overcome the limitations of perceiving the thoughts of the individuals by understanding different facial expressions, gestures and movements of the body. Another limitation that has been overcome through technological invention is the ability to understand whether the receiver of the information has been able to understand the main message conveyed by the sender or not through asking and watching through camera technology where both the sender and the receiver can see each other.

Phone was the first information transferring device in the world. People believed that this device was a poor replacer of the face-to-face communication as it has several limitations that affect the amount of information been transferred to the receiver. The analysts gave their view that the invention of telephone will affect the interpersonal relationships because people will find it easy to know about each other through telephones and social meetings or gatherings will reduce.

These fear of people increased everyday as there were numerous inventions in the field of information technology to develop a system or a device that would communicate a large amount of data in a very small span of time.
