Introduction

This article aims to present and discuss management and inventory control of a hospital pharmacy. When analyzing a health organization (hospital) it has been found that this is an organizational structure planning, coordination and integration of different streams physical, human, financial and informational, whose purpose is to restore and preserve the health of their patients. It was found that hospitals contain complex logistics systems whose efficiency depends on the operational management, control and support of a system.

This relates to the well structured information by which you can identify and eliminate excesses and shortages of medicines in stock, impairing the flow of external logistics (Supply) and internal (drug distribution). To better understand the dynamics of these systems are presented with logistics concepts, ABC classification and information systems.

Discussion

Medical logistics is generally known as the pharmaceuticals logistics or logistics that is used in health care organizations. It deals with the surgical and medical supplies, equipment and medical derives, and different products that are needed to support nurses, doctors, and several dental care and health care providers.

The provision of hospital services has fundamental differences with respect to other types of activities, especially with regard to its complexity. Because this service whose main purpose is to restore health and preservation of human life, we expect a quality assurance that expresses efficiency in different types of demands, while always considering the available resources and the social aspect that hospitals represent. The structure organizational complex nature of services and the ever present financial cost containment contributes to an increased difficulty with respect to other companies in the management of hospitals (Tucker, 2004).
