Mexican War 1846-1848

Introduction

The two economic systems in the United States: slavery and capitalism. The slave system of the South, with its need for new land, encouraged the theft of northern Mexico (what is now the southwestern United States), but also Northern capitalists coveted land, gold and other minerals that territory it was a door to trade with the West. In 1836, the slave settled in east Texas, stole the land from Mexico and declared the independent Republic of Texas. In 1845, the U.S. annexed, despite protests from the Mexican government, which ignited the war between Mexico and the United States. Among the bitter experiences that Mexico had to endure during their formative years, perhaps the hardest was the war with the United States, between the years of 1846 and 1848 (Rodríguez , 41). In this paper I am going to discuss the Mexican war which started in 1846 and ended in 1848, it lasted for two years which is a long period. The war has been a very horrifying incident for both countries and had adverse impacts on both U.S and Mexico. The purpose of this paper is to let readers know about the causes and consequences of Mexican War as this event is considered as an important event in the history of both countries.

Mexican-American War was a military conflict between the U.S. and Mexico in 1846 - 1848 years. In Mexico, the war is called the North American intervention or the War of the 47th year (Conway, 14). The war arose as a result of claims of Mexico to Texas after its annexation by the United States of America. After the war of independence of Texas, Mexico refused to recognize the loss of Texas, and announced its intention to return this territory back, considering her own renegade province. Also caused the expansion of the war were the Americans to the west, the political instability in Mexico and the Mexican government's inability to manage remote Northern provinces after the war for independence. Most Texans welcomed the start of the war. In the U.S., it was supported by the Democrats, but criticized the Whigs. Relative to Mexico, then this war has become a matter of national honor and is considered a way to regain lost ground.
