Mobile computing is a technology which deals with the transmission of voice, video or any other data via a computer or any other wireless device which is not connected to a physical link (www.tutorialspoint.com). Mobile Computing is a discipline which is free from spatial and temporal constraints, which allows its, users to access and process the information from anywhere around. Thus, it creates an illusion that the desired data and processing power are on the spot available. In mobile computing, information flows through wireless channels. Mobile computing has its origin from the large variety of wireless access with the goal of providing communication at any time (Kumar, n.d). Through social networking, the user is able to access all the mobile based applications round the clock. It has been very helpful for not only individuals, but in business it also provides several benefits besides it also provides an ease to the health care department (Kumar, n.d).

Discussion

Mobile applications are compact; these software applications perform specific tasks for the mobile user. There are two types of mobile applications one is the native applications that are installed in the mobile at the time of manufacturing these includes an address book, calculator, games and web browser. These types of applications are specifically written for a specific handset. The other type of application is the web application which is accessed via internet. This application can be used by the devices that surf web regardless of the brand (Anonymous, 2010).

Efficiency and effectiveness of Mobile Applications in Geo-locations

The vast advancement in the accessibility and efficiency of the mobile internet and the competences of the smartphones has enhanced the usage and functionality of mobile based applications. It has become very easy for the mobile users to access the data and information through mobile internet. The ability to access the data and perform several tasks through mobile application results a great significant convenience. As the internet is becoming more stronger and secure and capabilities of smartphones are increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of mobile based applications is also increasing(Yant,2012).Mobile applications are also used as a tool in the business world for organizing meetings, polishing presentations, important deadlines, and communicating among companies' employees, operational efficiency, quality and customer service (Noton, n.d).

Geo-location is an application that uses the data acquired from the mobile or a computer to locate a physical location. Application utilizing this technology offers great convenience and an ease to share information. Geo-location applications are responsible for doing two things

Locate the user's location and report it to other users

Associate the real world location to the user's location.
