Throughout the world, Philadelphia is famous for its street art and Murals. Currently, more than 3,000 murals are lightening up the streets of Philadelphia. In Pennsylvania, Philadelphia contains large number of murals than any other city. This brightening innovation was accomplished by the Mural Art Program. However, this art form hold great significance in this city, but it certainly raises many questions that why these murals are so popular, especially in Philadelphia? Art is not merely a piece of decoration, but it is the key mode of disclosing hidden realities in an artistic form. Murals are not only introduced for decorating walls of Philadelphia, but this art is purposely used for hiding graffiti. This paper intends to argue on the statement and discover how art became the reason of Philadelphia's popularity in the world.

In 1984, Wilson Goode, the Mayor initiated the program "Anti-Graffiti Network" for stopping the fashion of expanding spray-paint problem that was spoiling the appearance of buildings throughout the city (Allmer, p73).
