Museum Art Analysis

Introduction

The art that is collected in the museums is not only old but is also of a very high value. This art shows both high art of ancient times as well as hint on the cultures, traditions, civilizations, and other characteristics of its times. Hence, this art might include paintings, sculptures, artifacts, or other findings of archaeologists. However, other art is also included in the museum exhibits which is obviously great work of art and ancient as well, but might not have been explored from archaeological sites. Then, this artwork can be called as modern art, rather than ancient art. Accordingly, we look at various African American modern art available in the National Gallery of Arts located in Washington, DC. We then analyze these pieces of art to look at the work of the artists in these paintings.

Street to Mbari of Jacob Lawrence was created in 1964. The painting is given in Figure 1. It shows a Nigerian street market. The painting uses brilliant colors and has been painted in oil paints. The color combinations are also very good that show the hustle and bustle of the market. Likewise, the iron corrugated plates have also been shown on the roofs. Next, there are also goats and hens being sold in the street market.

Freedom, A Fable: A Curious Interpretation of the Wit of a Negress in Troubled Times was a book developed by Kara Walker in 1997. Figure 2 depicts the work. This book is a historical art form and includes text and pop-up silhouettes.
