Why I love Music

Why I love Music

Overview

According to music historians, the 'nada bindu' was the first source from where music emerged. Historians believe that the Big Bang was the first musical event in the history of life. Hence, in other words, music has existed even before man was created. No matter where or how music came into existence, one thing is for sure. It has played a huge role in shaping the face of this world. Music is one of the most powerful tools that humans have. It can inspire, it can lead, it can make you follow and it can put thoughts in your mind that you would never have imagined otherwise (Eduardo, 2007, 101). Personally, I love music for one reason. It is a personal belief that is very close and dear to me. Music stirs the soul and lightens the spirit. I personally believe that music is food for a person's soul and this is the main reason why I love music.

Personal Reflection

Music has existed in different forms and styles since the time the first instrument was created by mankind. To a person who does not appreciate the true beauty of music, it may just be another source of entertainment or a means to pass time but for a person who really admires the concept of music, it is a phenomenon that has played a huge role in forming the world as it is today.

First of all, as discussed earlier, the main reason why I love music so much is because it is food for a person's soul. It has been observed that a person chooses his music based on his or her mood. Hence, a person who is depressed will most likely listen to depressing and sad music to augment the emotions that he or she is feeling. Alternatively, when a person is in a good mood, he or she would prefer to listen to light joyful music. When a person feels like partying or having fun, he would listen to dance music and when a person feels like being lost in intoxication or euphoria, he or she would listen to trance music or soul music. All these different genres of music that have emerged are actually different moods that have been given names in a musical language. There is another side of this discussion as well. If a person is depressed and he listens to light and jolly music, his mood automatically lightens up and he starts to feel better. On the other hand, if a person's mood is loud but he is made to listen to sad music, he will automatically become quite after a while and the sadness would start affecting him.

Music is not just a soul stirrer; it is also a powerful tool that can be used for motivation and influence. Remember the classical story of the Pied Piper of Hamilton who uses sweet music from his flute to lure thousands of mice from the city and rids the people from the ...
