Introduction

Culture, as a concept, is one of the most complex ideas in academic use today. It is defined and applied in various and often incompatible ways and is the site of significant disagreement between academic disciplines regarding the fundamental character of human social life and the manner in which it is to be studied. Some anthropologists allege that the culture concept oversimplifies and stereotypes whole societies, erroneously treating them as isolated and uniform while underplaying individuality and diversity of opinion.

Thesis Statement

The main theme of this paper is to analyze the diverse people and events that contribute to United States society and culture. Discussion section will be analyzing the concepts of diversity and inclusion in the context of U.S. society and culture as well as in the context of a global society. The cultures we will be analyzing are Native Americans and African in U.S. History. Analyzing part will include their origins and contributions to the development of this country and how the events that they experienced led to their inclusion into, or exclusion from, United States society by the 1870s.

Discussion and Analysis

Culture can be understood as the traditions, customs, beliefs, values, norms, and perspectives that are learned through shared behavioral patterns and cultural practices passed down from generation to generation. Culture is learned implicitly, though it is the foundation for meanings we attribute to our perceptions and it influences how we describe events. There are different cultures existing in the world, all of them has their own values and norms that are important for that particular society of people. Different types of culture leads to the concept of diversity which has its own essence. Some people think that diversity is bad for the world's economy; and some perceives diversity as beneficial part of the world's economy.

The culture of the United States of America was born from the fusion of many cultures, although the fringe leadership comes mainly from England (the first settlers arrived on the East Coast of the current United States as a result of the repression of the Puritans after the Restoration): German, Native Americans (or American Indian), African blacks, British, French, Spanish. Culture diversity can be observed in United States as there are many cultures present.

Important factor in the evolution of American culture is religion. Many of the settlers from England and Germany went to America to found the community in which to freely profess their religious beliefs. The cultural identity of the English colonies that will become the end of the eighteenth century, the United States also stands out in this respect from that of the mother country. The term multiculturalism, as used in the United States at the end of the 20th century, referred to two distinct although inter-related phenomena.
